What Is an Alpha Male?

The alpha male is a popular concept used to describe the type of man who is self-confident, has strong leadership qualities, is decisive and is dominant in social settings. Alpha males usually take initiative, stay calm under pressure and act without needing the approval of others.

The Difference Between Alpha, Beta and Sigma

The beta male represents a more agreeable, cooperative and supportive style — this is not a weakness but a sign of reliability. The sigma male, on the other hand, is the 'lone wolf' type who lives by their own rules, is independent and doesn't need the group. In reality most men are a mix of these types and bring out different sides of themselves depending on the situation.

Which One Is 'Better'?

There's no right answer. What matters is not fitting into a label, but finding a stance that suits you, is balanced and makes you happy. True maturity is being strong in moments that call for leadership and understanding in moments that call for empathy.

Note: The alpha/beta/sigma classification is not a scientific psychology term but an analogy that comes from pop culture. This test is for fun and personal awareness.
